There are several buses that have their stop near George Square. The closest ones are Forest Road and South Side (after Surgeons’ Hall on Nicolson St). Loathian Buses is the local bus company operating these stops. You can plan your journey here:

A single ticket is £1.30, a day ticket costs £3.20.

From Waverley Train Station:

It is a 15 minutes walk, which can be quite enjoyable to get a glimpse of the Old Town city centre (if you do not mind cobblestones or tourists too much). Taxis are also always an option from Waverley. They would be around £5 for the trip to Chrystal Macmillan Building, George Sq.

If you prefer taking the bus:

Walk 3 minutes to bus stop Old Town at Carlton Highland Hotel, North Bridge

Take bus 37 (Lothian Buses)

Get off at South Side (after Surgeons’ Hall on Nicolson St)

Walk 7 minutes to George Square


Walk 3 minutes to bus stop Old Town, at Former GPO Building on North Bridge

Take bus 14 dir. Muirhouse or 33 dir. Baberton

Get off at South Side (after Surgeons’ Hall on Nicolson St)

Walk 7 minutes to George Square

The Friday evening event is held at the Wee Red Bar ( , Edinburgh Art College, 74 Lauriston Place, EH3 9DF. The entrance is at the side of the building on Lady Lawson Street. The closest bus stops are Chalmers Hospital and Lauriston Buildings. Lothian Buses


Here are some tips where to look for places to stay in Edinburgh:
